This was the residence of the Kawashima family, who served as officials of the silver mine for generations. The main building is believed to have been rebuilt after a great fire in 1800 and then expanded by 1825. It has been selected as a designated historic site of Oda City as the building layout and room arrangement are a perfect example of the characteristics of the silver mine officials’ residences. The housewares, weapons, armors, and other objects on display will make you feel the atmosphere of daily life at the time.
