Umashimaji-no-Mikoto is revered Mononobe Shrine and it’s said to be the founding father of the Mononobe clan, a local ruling family in the Yamato kingdom. It has the largest Kasuga-zukuri style main shrine structure in Japan. Along with its association with the Mononobe clan, Mononobe Shrine also includes within its precinct the Ippeisha Shrine, said to enshrine one of the legendary sacred bottles that gave Mt. Sanbe its name and thus, it is also a place where you can feel the deep faith the people had in Mt. Sanbe.
